The first inkling that Progressive Conservative candidates were being discouraged from participating in all-candidate forums in the current Provincial Election came from a publication called, “The Trillium.”
That’s the Liberal nominee for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, Oliver Jacob.
The Grit candidate shared his concerns with us February 7th.
While Oldies 107.7/myFM is attempting to see whether this is the situation elsewhere, it has been confirmed by the Billy Denault PC campaign that the candidate is prioritizing other activities in efforts to meet as many voters as possible, and will be skipping the three scheduled forums, including tonight’s Federation of Agriculture forum in Cobden.
Jacob is disappointed in the decision.
He’s heard rival Billy Denault will not be attending the YourTV forum, which is, in effect, limiting multiple voter exposures.
The other factor that will likely hamper attendance at the OFA forum in Cobden is the weather- and organizers are adding a live-feed as a result.
