The Town of Arnprior’s Committee of Adjustment has approved a critical land severance, and the clock is ticking on the appeal process for those objecting.
On Wednesday, a public meeting was held at the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall regarding dividing the Galilee Centre property at the foot of John Street in Arnprior into a retained parcel, and 20 acres the spiritual retreat wants to sell to developer Cavanagh Homes.
The application, when it came forward, must be taken at its word, and stated that only one new structure was being proposed. This simplified the task for the Committee of Adjustment, as the four members present could only rule of whether a neighbour’s property access was being infringed- and whether an existing driveway was wide enough to become a public road, if required.
That evening the Committee of Adjustment adjourned with no decision- but the go-ahead was announced late Friday afternoon (February 7th). Those objecting have 20 days to file to the Ontario Land Appeals Tribunal.
