Christine Jarrett is president of the Renfrew Rotary Club.
Christine Jarrett, president of the Renfrew Rotary Club, has been involved with the club for about 10 years.
She first got involved as a ‘Friend of Rotary,’ a component of the organization that allows community members to support the group and its projects.
Jarrett says becoming president allowed her to learn more about the club and its initiatives and give back to a community she loves.
The club has been around since 1922 and its many and varied projects include Rotary Homes, which provides affordable housing to local seniors, running the Meals on Wheels program, and the splash pad at Ma-te-Way Park. Among the more recent projects is helping fund the new playground at Central Public School.
Among the group’s fundraising efforts is the famed bacon on a bun booth, available at the Renfrew Fair and other select events.
The vision is to grow the club even larger, in terms of members and ‘Friends of Rotary’ and to continue to meet the community’s needs.
