“At around 8 a.m., the vehicles will move from Garrison Petawawa to Highway 17. They will then travel along Highway 17 to Highway 508, and along Highway 508 to Barrett Chute Road,” reads a press release. “The vehicles will turn around in the vicinity of Barrett Chute Road and Alpine Lane and will return to Garrison Petawawa along the same route.”
During the exercise, the soldiers will reinforce standard operating procedures for road movement.
“This training will help prepare them to be the Immediate Response Unit, the unit designated for rapid response for domestic operations,” reads the release.
Soldiers will be not be carrying their weapons during this move and the vehicles moving will include light and medium logistic support trucks.
