When it comes to helping community members receiving end-of-life care, Hospice Renfrew believes in the more, the merrier.
Debroah Coelho, the Volunteer & Events Coordinator for the local six bed palliative care residence, is hopeful that their upcoming open house event on Thursday, January 30th, will bring in new volunteers who can help with a few areas of their operation that would benefit from extra sets of hands.
She says there’s no obligation needed to drop by their Albert Street office that morning from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. that afternoon and see the opportunities that are available.
You also don’t have to commit a massive amount of time or take yourself too far outside your comfort zone to make an impact on the day-to-day operations at the hospice, as there are plenty of unique ways to support them available.
Coelho says volunteering with the hospice can be very rewarding for those who take part regardless of which role they choose, adding that volunteers often report back with glowing remarks after their shifts.
If you’re interested in volunteering but are unable to make the open house, Coelho encourages you to contact the hospice in order to set up a visit that works for you.
