Don’t be surprised to see Hydro One rolling along the side of the road near Highway 17 throughout the new year.
The Township of Horton is telling residents that the hydro company will be doing their regular vegetation maintenance of the line that runs along Goshen Road towards Gillan Road and eventually to their Pucker Street station in 2025.
In a letter to the township, Hydro One Forestry Technician Jason Swant explains that crews will be removing “incompatible vegetation,” including brush and dead, diseased, or hazardous trees along the right-of-way near the power lines to prevent service disruptions and allow for easier access for emergency repairs.
Vegetation that needs to be fully removed will be marked with orange tape or paint, while anything that needs to be trimmed back will be marked in yellow. If trees are removed from your property, the wood will be left on site. They also warn that mechanical equipment might be used in high-density areas.
Property owners with questions about the work can contact Hydro One’s Forestry Department or Swant by email.
