A structural fire in the heart of Pakenham Saturday afternoon saw crews attend from both Mississippi Mills Fire Stations augmented with units from Arnprior, Carleton Place and the City of Ottawa, as power and gas services were cut to a two block area as a precaution. Traffic on Lanark County Road 29 was detoured around the scene by patrol cars of the Lanark OPP, with County Paramedics also in attendance.
InsideOttawaValley.com reports the initial call came about 3:30 p.m., confirmed by Oldies on site. Witnesses report seeing smoke from the attic of a residential-business complex on the village’s Main Street.
The scene remained under police control into the evening Saturday.
