The Town of Renfrew has now made one of their most important personnel decisions in some time official.
Council used their Tuesday night meeting to formally approve the hiring of incoming Chief Administrative Officer Gloria Raybone, wrapping up a selection process that Town Clerk Carolynn Errett notes got started almost immediately after the position became available back in September.
Raybone was chosen for her extensive experience in municipal and public sector management, having begun her career at a public accounting firm specializing in auditing municipalities and other public sector organizations.
She’ll put those qualifications to use in another role outside of her CAO duties, as the town has also appointed her as a Deputy Clerk, which Errett says allows council meetings to stay procedurally and legislatively complaint in the rare times she or her other Deputies are not allowed to sit in.
The new CAO officially takes over on January 6th, but the Town has tabbed Acting CAO Kelly Latendresse to stay on until the end of January to help Raybone become familiar with ongoing projects, key issues, and the specific operational procedures of the town.
Latenderesse is hopeful that her extra month as Acting CAO will be enough to ensure a seamless transition, but wasn’t completely against extending past that if needed.
