A massive group of hunters from across the Ottawa Valley have made major contributions to local charities.
Gourley’s Outdoors says the final results from their Big Buck and Doe Contest are being tallied, as they weigh 190 deer brought in by just over 1,600 entrants.
The competition, as well as the many prize draws held over the past few weeks, brought in $17,950 for Hospice Renfrew. Gourley’s added an additional $550 to bring the total to $18,500 for palliative care for people across the region.
A tie-in barbeque by the Backyard Gourmet raised $3,340 for Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s Oncology Department, and a 50/50 draw held in connection with the event also brought in $1,140 for the Renfrew Fish and Game Club.
