The Town of Renfrew will take a moment to remember those who fell serving our country on Monday morning, lest we forget.
Renfrew Legion spokesperson Debbie McDermid says Remembrance Day in Renfrew begins with a military march from the Legion Hall towards the Low Square Cenotaph starting at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, November 11th, followed by remarks, a moment of silence, and the laying of wreaths.
She says the ceremony has grown and evolved as soldiers from new eras put themselves in the line of danger.
McDermind expects that she and fellow Legion members will be met with another crowd that will spill out onto Raglan Street and around Town Hall, thanks in part to the community’s continued interest in teaching younger generations about the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces.
If the ceremony inspires you to do more, she adds that the Legion is always looking for volunteers to support our veterans year round.
The community is welcome to join Legion members at the Branch 148 Hall after the event for fellowship and refreshments.
