Russell Mackay is thinking local as he gets ready for another long walk for charity.
Beachburg’s “Papa” invites the community to join him for his latest charitable effort at the community fairgrounds on Saturday, November 2nd, as he raises money for the Beachburg Arena.
He explains that the arena was closed for several years during COVID-19 and required many repairs and a huge volunteer effort to get it running again, making it a prime candidate for support.
The 86-year-old is well-known for going long distance for good causes, including a 125-kilometre trip from Beachburg to Ottawa in 2020 that raised $120,000 for CHEO. Over the past four years, he’s travelled over 270 kilometres and raised more than $200,000 for charities, including Hospice Renfrew and the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
More information and ways to donate can be found on their social media page.
