Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium general manager Justin Jeffrey says Monday’s meeting with the region’s bus operators was “constructive and informative.”
An update Tuesday reported that the directors of education of the Renfrew County District School Board and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board were on hand to share the perspectives of students, families, and both school boards, and to hear the perspectives of each bus company.
School bus service in the region has been stalled since the beginning of school because of a contract dispute between the RCJTC and local school bus operators.
“We commit to ensuring that the voices of our families and students are heard and valued, and that everyone understands the great stress this situation is causing,” said Jeffrey in the update. “We recognize the challenging circumstances this situation presents for the entire community, and we deeply appreciate your continued patience and cooperation.”
Meeting with RCJTC were representatives from CF Vaudry Bus Lines, Holly Bus Lines, Musclow Bus Lines, Renfrew County Bus Lines, Skelhorn Bus Lines, Switzer-Carty, and Valley Transportation.
According to Tuesday’s update, discussions will continue over the coming days, with another meeting scheduled for Monday, Sept. 30.
RCJTC says further updates will be provided early next week.
