A Renfrew County paralympian is back in a familiar position as she battles for a medal this weekend.
Pembroke’s Jolan Wong and the Canadian women’s sitting volleyball team have one more game to play in Paris, taking on Brazil in the bronze medal match this Saturday, September 7th, at 9:00 a.m. our time.
The Canadians hold a record of 2-2 at the Paris Paralympics, beating Slovenia and Rwanda in straight sets while dropping a 3-1 decision to the Brazilians during pool play. They would go on to lose against the undefeated Team China in the semifinals on Thursday.
Wong has been a crucial part of the Canadian team, currently the top-ranked libero at the tournament with a 1.54 average per set in-play rate and just seven errors.
A win would mark Wong’s best result at the Paralympics and her first medal after finishing 7th at the 2016 Games and 4th at the 2020 Games.
