Just how much of a rush were people passing through Renfrew and Arnprior in over the Labour Day Long Weekend?
Local police issued 100 speeding tickets as part of their holiday traffic campaign, which targeted the “Big 4” causes of crashes along roads the OPP patrols, including aggressive, distracted, and intoxicated driving as well as a lack of seatbelts.
In total, the Renfrew and Arnprior OPP issued 146 charges between August 30th and September 2nd.
Their full list of charges from the Labour Day Weekend campaign includes:
- 101 Speeding charges, Highway Traffic Act
- 10 seatbelt charges, HTA
- 1 Distracted driving
- 1 Stunt Drive
- 5 Impaired driving charges, CC
- 6 Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges and
- 22 other charges, related to our roadways.
They remind local drivers to not get comfortable now that the weekend is over, as safe driving is a year-round responsibility.
