The remains of one person have been found following a Friday house fire in Eganville.
“Police are confirming that the remains of one person who has yet to be identified were located inside of the residence,” reads a Killaloe OPP press release.
Crews were called to a fully engulfed residential fire on John Street in Bonnechere Valley around 5:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23.
Officers from the Killaloe Detachment and members of the Bonnechere Valley Fire Department responded.
The area has been cordoned off to facilitate the investigation, and John Street remains closed. The fire has been deemed non-suspicious.
The Renfrew County Crime Unit, supported by the Office of the Fire Marshall, the Office of the Chief Corner and the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
