One Renfrew area family is asking the community for a little faith in Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
Bonnie and Douglas Eady are thankful to RVH for properly diagnosing and treating their son Michael after he fell ill with a particularly stubborn strain of pneumonia that he was originally sent to a Toronto hospital to treat.
Bonnie says things didn’t go quite as planned.
Michael would call his parents, who brought him back from Toronto and checked him into RVH at his request. No sooner than he entered triage, local physicians put him on oxygen, performed both bloodwork and a CT scan, and put him on antibiotics to fight the illness.
Michael was briefly released before his condition worsened, but Douglas says a second round of tests has determined the bacteria responsible.
His son is responding well enough to treatment that he could be back at home sometime this week.
The Eady’s believe the case proves that RVH’s closeness to the community and intensiveness they provide can’t be beat by larger hospitals in the city, and local care would not suffer without the doctors and staff who work there.
Bonnie and Michael both send special thanks to the team that provided what they call “wonderful care,” keeping him from facing a worse outcome.
