Local police and first responders were so pleased with the response to their first swing at hosting a golf tournament that they are ready to make it an annual thing.
Around 10 spots remain for tee times for the Renfrew and Arnprior OPP’s 2nd 911 Swing for the Cause next Friday, June 21st, in support of the Arnprior and District Food Bank, according to Acting Sergeant Brianna Roberge.
Roberge says the day is intended to be a chance to give back to the community through a different charity each year while also being a chance for first responders to connect with the community outside of the stressful conditions they’re usually called to.
She adds that they already have a goal in mind ahead of teeing off at the Renfrew Golf Club.
The early success that the event has enjoyed comes down to the impressive support from the community, which has jumped at the chance to be part of the experience.
Local businesses and organizations can still claim a few sponsorship opportunities that are still available, including as a tee sponsor or by donating prizes for either their silent auction or for a number of on-course competitions that will be open for golfers to play for during the event.
Registration and sponsorships can be purchased through the Renfrew Golf Club’s website.
