The Town of Renfrew is working with Renfrew Pride to add a little colour to pride celebrations in Renfrew.
The 3.5-kilometre Colour Walk, Run, and Stroll will brighten up the day on Saturday, June 8th, as participants head along our local trails, spraying themselves with food-grade coloured powder along the way.
Renfrew’s programs specialist, Janyne Fraser, says the event is part of a joint effort with Renfrew Pride.
She adds that the short trek will be a perfect chance for the community to show support for the local LGBTQ+ community.
Fraser notes that sponsorship opportunities are going fast, especially for the colouring stations along the run’s route, and interested businesses and community members are asked to contact them as soon as possible, preferably ahead of the long weekend.
Pre-registration is available online for $20 per person, and the community is also welcome to register on the day for $30. You’re asked to wear white for the run so the colours can show, and Fraser reminds you that white t-shirts are available during pre-registration for an additional $10.
While the coloured powder is easy to clean up, the town asks that you wear glasses or goggles and a bandana or dust mask to protect your eyes and mouth. They also do not recommend dogs participate in the event.
