Who better to lift young and emerging farmers and agricultural experts in the Ottawa Valley than a group made up primarily of them?
Brady Wytenburg leads the Renfrew County Junior Farmers club as their President as they continue to search for new ways to provide opportunities for young people so they can get a foothold in the Valley’s agriculture landscape.
He says a lot of that work comes down to be the connecting link between the many generations that make up the local farming community to ensure that vital information and best practices are not lost to time. They also help emerging farmers access a number of resources and potential funding streams through their connections with the Junior Farmers Association of Ontario.
While technology has enabled young farmers everywhere the chance to connect and learn without the need to leave the farm, Brady says missing out on those conversations and conventions means you don’t get the one-on-one learning experiences that often help young farmers the most.
