It’s a vital, growing community program and an upcoming fundraiser will help support a move to a new location and expanded programs.
The Arnprior-McNab-Braeside Men’s Shed is getting ready for a move to its new location in Braeside and a fundraiser this Saturday will help pay for needed work at the new space, at the old schoolhouse in Braeside, as well as several new programs.
A dinner and dance being held in Arnprior Saturday pays tribute to the memory of treasured community booster and former recreation director Glenn Arthur, who was a member of the Men’s Shed fundraising committee.
Darrel O’Shaughnessy, Men’s Shed founding member says:
The community has stepped up and supported the event in a big way, with prizes, draws and silent auctions planned.
The move to the new space is much-anticipated, said O’Shaughnessy.
The local Men’s Shed, first created in 2018, is a place where senior men come to socialize, engage in woodworking, share interests and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Among the new programs being explored are: a Learn How to Fix it program, designed specifically for women; special programs that will entice and benefit veterans, which have already started; and programs for younger men who require assistance.
The ‘Do It For Glenn’ dinner and dance is set for Saturday, April 6 at the St. John Chrysostom Parish Hall. Tickets are $75/person or $600/table. Cocktails will begin at 5 p.m.
