Firefighters in Renfrew responded to what appeared to be a grass fire after 4 p.m. on Monday, March 25.
Fire crews were spraying water on the grassy area above the Bonnechere River bridge, alongside Lochiel Street North (known to some locals as Machinery Hill). A burnt area of grass was also visible.
The situation appeared to be under control.
Greater Madawaska firefighters were also out on duty dealing with a bush fire on Grant Road.
More details will be provided when they become available.
