The MRC Pontiac is holding a series of townhall meetings on its proposed Energy from Waste (EFW) project.
A decision reached by the Council of Mayors last Wednesday (held on March 20th), puts the show on the road.
The MRC is organizing five public meetings to present its business case, as prepared by consultants Deloitte and Ramboll.
Each meeting will present the same material and provide an update to all residents. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
MRC Pontiac reaffirms the initiative is locally-driven, but conforms to Quebec Government requirements, coming into force in 2025.
While addressing the greater need for composting and recycling, the Mayors’ Council assures residents the “Energy from Waste” aspects will only come into play if the initiative is considered healthy for the MRC Pontiac.
Townhall dates and locations begin with this Monday’s session in Isle-aux-Allumettes; 7PM at St. Joseph Hall, 6, rue St-Joseph.
This will be followed by an event in Fort-Coulonge, Wednesday (March 27th) at 7PM in le Club de l’Âge d’Or.
The Shawville presentation occurs Wednesday April 3rd at 7PM in the United Church Hall.
The Campbell’s Bay public meeting happens Tuesday April 9th at 7PM in the Campbell’s Bay RA, with the final event to occur in Otter Lake, Wednesday April 10th at 7 in the Otter Lake RA.
