
A 17-year-old driver is now confronting charges in the wake of an impaired driving investigation in the City of Pembroke.
On March 7, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to a report of a potential impaired driver in the City’s west end. Upon discovering the vehicle, officers initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation, a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was administered, followed by additional testing conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment.
Consequently, the 17-year-old resident of White Lake is facing charges under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act, including Operation while impaired, failure to surrender license, and Class G1 license holder – drive at an unlawful hour. The young driver is slated to appear in court to address the charges.
