Environment Canada says that Friday’s sunshine will give way to widespread rain across the Ottawa Valley and most of Southern Ontario.
A low-pressure system passing through the region is expected to bring 20 to 40 millimetres of rain beginning early on Saturday morning through Sunday, with higher amounts possible. The weather agency adds that there is a risk of freezing rain in the Ottawa Valley during the onset of the event.
There is still uncertainty regarding rainfall amounts at this time, and Environment Canada says to stay alert for rainfall warnings as the event approaches.
That rain is expected to change over to snow on Sunday as colder air moves through the region, and the Ottawa Valley could see some snowfall accumulate on local roads and walkways.
