Arnprior has lost a local legend.
In a statement posted on the town website on Saturday, Feb. 17, Mayor Lisa McGee shared the sad news that Glenn Arthur, former director of recreation, prolific volunteer, beloved family man, and friend to many in the community, has died.
“We have lost a great community supporter and leader to so many. During a career of public service that spanned decades, Glenn’s legacy will live on in the people he has helped, taught and supported in so many ways,” said McGee, describing Arthur as a “a dedicated employee and a mentor and friend to many in the community.”
She went on to say: “I cannot imagine what Arnprior would look like without the dedication and commitment he gave to everything he did as an employee, and as a volunteer.”
Beginning Tuesday, flags at town facilities will be lowered to half-mast in honour of Arthur.
Plans are in the works for a memorial service on Sunday, Feb. 25 at noon on the Glenn Arthur Arena at the Nick Smith Centre.
