A joint initiative from our local police and the Police Services Board, the Renfrew & Area Connection Centre’s main goal is to provide a local community hub that helps residents learn about and access the numerous supports and services that can be found in the Renfrew area.
OPP Community Engagement and Education Officer Tina Hunt plays a major role in the service, which opened next to the Renfrew Public Library last year. She explains that they collaborate with a number of local organizations offering everything from overdose and addictions help to counselling, child services, home support for seniors, community housing, and more.
The fledgling centre has already seen a lot of support from the community, with Tina acknowledging the “fantastic” connections with their partners and the public during the short time they’ve been open.
She says their next steps include continuing to work on marketing themselves so that more people in Renfrew are aware of how they can help them.
