Renfrew is hoping they made the most of a chance to bring local issues to the attention of the province.
Members of Town Council wrapped up a three-day visit to the Rural Ontario Municipalities Association Conference in Toronto on Tuesday, discussing local concerns directly with Provincial Ministers.
Town officials were able to secure talks with representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks.
They were also able to collaborate with the Township of North Algona Wilberforce to speak with the Ministry of Finance and with the Township of Bonnechere Valley and Mississippi Mills for a delegation with the Ministry of Energy.
Reeve Peter Emon says the talks were “pivotal in addressing local issues, policy matters, and expressing our funding concerns,” while also thanking local MPP John Yakabuski for joining them on multiple talks over the three-day period.
Meanwhile, Chief Administrative Officer Rob Tremblay explains that the meetings “provided a platform to showcase the incredible progress Renfrew is making and outline our strategic plans for a prosperous future.”
