Tragedy has ensued from a Wednesday evening residential fire in Arnprior.
The blaze, at 126 Elgin Street West was attended by Arnprior firefighters, paramedics and OPP.
The incident was reported about twenty past eight last night.
First responders found the structure fully engulfed in flames, and upon arrival one resident was unaccounted for and discovered to be in the building.
Suppression and rescue operations began, the fire was extinguished, and the resident was extricated from the building.
The victim was transported to local hospital and pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained.
OPP have identified him as a 30 year-old male, whom neighbours say lived on the third floor of the dwelling.
Three other residents of the triplex made their own way to safety.
The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal continues to investigate, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services.
The members of the Arnprior Fire Department wish to express their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
