Renfrew is mourning the loss of a long-standing figure in local education and hockey.
Condolences are pouring in for Douglas Miller, who spent just under 35 years as a teacher for the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, after he passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 15th.
One friend of Doug’s has taken to social media, describing him as “the heart and soul of Renfrew” due to his involvement with the NHA/NHL Museum, Renfrew Timberwolves hockey, drama productions, and more.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday afternoon at Zohr Family Funeral Home before a memorial mass inside Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
According to the funeral home’s website, people wishing to donate in Douglas’ memory should consider making contributions to Renfrew Victoria Hospital or Hospice Renfrew.
He was 73 years old.
