Gillan Rutz, well known across the Ottawa Valley for his music has released a new book, titled “This Valley I Call Home”. Rutz of Petawawa tells us how the book idea came about.
He says the book is meant to help with tourism, but also pass the torch.
Rutz hopes the stories shared in this book help families and friends understand the legacy that their parents and grandparents left behind, and how it contributed to our current identity. It is intentionally designed to be a quick read with a larger font to cater to senior readers. The author explained that this project has been in the works for a while. Many people had requested that he compile his short stories into a book. During his shows, Rutz would often narrate these stories and keep his audience mesmerized with his gifted memory for detail. The book is a passion project for Gillan and he goes on to say that he wants it to say that way.
Rutz will also be holding a book signing at Grey Gables in Pembroke on Sunday from 1:30 until 4pm. The “This Valley I Call Home” is available at Hugli’s Blueberry Ranch, Country Market and Play Park on Greenwood Road in Laurentian Valley, just east of Pembroke.
