Killaloe’s outdoor rink is getting an extra lifeline, thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township and recently awarded the grant for $134,500 which will be used to install a new rink board system at the Killaloe outdoor rink. In a statement, John Yakabuski, MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke says this upgrade will ensure the rink is in top form for local residents to enjoy outdoor ice sports for years to come.
The new rink board system will allow for safer play while increasing the number of activities and sporting events that can be hosted at the arena. The new system will also allow for better ice to be created, with less damage to equipment and machinery while making it more accessible.
“This is a great first step in revitalizing the Killaloe Rink, beginning with the new boards, and Council and I are grateful to the province for this opportunity to improve the rink since it is a vital part of our recreation amenities here in KHR” says KHR Mayor David Mayville.
