An undefeated opponent proved to be too much for St. Joseph’s Catholic High School on Thursday.
The St. Joe’s Jaguars senior girls basketball team came just one win short at the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association tournament held at Renfrew Collegiate Institute, eventually dropping the finals to Brockville’s Académie Catholique Ange-Gabriel, 43-26.
The St. Joe’s faithful can celebrate a clean run to the finals, defeating Avonmore’s Tagwi Secondary School 46-25 and Carleton Place’s Notre Dame Catholic High School 59-39 on day one before sneaking by Deep River’s Mackenzie Community School 41-38 in the semi-finals.
Unfortunately, the loss does mean the Renferw-based catholic school will miss out on next week’s provincial tournament in Belleville.
