If the Ottawa Valley’s recent samplings of snow and freezing rain has not been enough to remind you, winter weather is on the horizon, bringing with it challenging road conditions.
To that end, CAA North and East Ontario, in conjunction with the OPP and local police services, is urging motorists to prepare their vehicles in anticipation of hazardous driving conditions.
CAA Communications Manager Nadia Matos says there’s no time like now to prepare for what’s coming.
Matos says the recent wintry weather should serve as a wake up call.
Matos notes an amendment to the Highway Traffic Act makes it illegal to pass snowplows working side by side, with fines ranging from $150 to $1,000.
Motorists can download the 511 app to check on weather and road conditions before heading out. Visit www.511on.ca for the app.
