For two men recently arrested in Mansfield, the $300 fine for open beer cans in their car might be the least of their worries.
Police pulled their car over in the parking lot of Mansfield Town Hall at around 12:30am on Sunday, October 15th, where the open alcohol led to officers investigating the attached trailer.
Further investigation found a pair of dirt bikes that were reported as stolen, as well as over 40 grams of cocaine, more than 20 methamphetamine tablets, multiple guns, including a loaded handgun and a semi-automatic weapon with a prohibited magazine, and more than $17,000 in Canadian money.
The two men, a 28-year-old man from Saint-Ferdinand and a 33-year-old man from Victoriaville, were arrested and have since appeared in court this week.
They could be facing a number of charges, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a restricted weapon, receiving stolen property, possession of drugs, and possession of a prohibited device.
