Recovery Day Ottawa Valley’s first foray into Renfrew has left an impression on the town.
Town Council proclaimed this past Saturday, September 23rd, as Recovery Day in Renfrew, as Mackay Manor’s Liana Sullivan tells myFM news that vendors and services gathered on Low Square to break the stigma around addiction recovery.
Sullivan adds that it’s all about raising awareness about substance use disorders and linking people in need to available help in the area.
Residents gathered outside Low Square to meet with a number of vendors, including Pflag Renfrew County, who stressed the importance of our local support system being visible for those who need it.
Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney would meet with Sullivan on Saturday to present her with an official proclamation from the town declaring the significance of Recovery Day.
In it, the town recognizes that substance use disorders continue to affect lives in the Ottawa Valley, and they choose to celebrate the many ways to increase wellness.
