The 168th edition of the Renfrew Fair is here, and a big booster of the event is the community’s Mayor, Tom Sidney.
The Renfrew Fair website brags, “known as the greatest fair in the Ottawa Valley since 1853.”
Officially underway since the gates opened Thursday morning, activities continue through Sunday at 5PM.
It’s an exciting four days with ample activities, including those born of its agricultural roots such as: Beef Shows, Heavy & Light Horse Shows, 4-H & Interclub Shows, Swine & Lambs, and many more Livestock events.
The human portion of the equation includes Exhibits, Art, Domestic Science, Women’s Institute Displays, Floriculture, Fruit, Vegetables, Junior Classes, and Needlework.
The Robertson Amusements Midway is not to be missed. Saturday’s the night for the Demolition Derby, and entertainment headliners include nightly performances at the Armouries and a Sunday music matinee.
If you get hungry while on site, the Renfrew Fair has you covered with mouth watering candy apples, popcorn, fully serviced meal, or a splendid piece of fresh fudge; not to mention Rotary’s gift to mankind, the famous bacon on a bun.
Mayor Sidney knows that with so many attendees, parking can be a challenge; it’s five dollars on site- with other opportunities nearby.
Admission is by multi-day pass or $10 per day for those 11 and up, with children 10 and under $5, while five and under get in free.
