The grind of professional sports has finally caught up to Renfrew’s Scott McCullough.
After a 28-year career, including a long tenure as Head Trainer for the Toronto Raptors, Scott tells myFM in the Morning that he’s moving on to start his own private sports medicine consultancy, AthleteTx..
McCullough says there are plenty of fond memories, adding that there are so many places he’s been and people he’s met that would have never happened without the year-round effort he put in as part of the team.
That being said, the lifestyle left little time for himself and the strain of it was magnified when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Raptors to the Tampa area for the start of the 2020-2021 season.
McCullough says the move towards the next chapter in his life and role as an athletic trainer has been in the works for the last few years, and will allow him to work people from all walks of life while also being able better balance work with his home life.
Looking back on his long time in the league, Scott say that the obvious highlight was the 2018-2019 season that resulted in the first ever NBA Championship for the Raptors.
