It’s literally the dog days of summer at the Avalon Ranch in Renfrew.
The Dog Sports Training facility along Lochwinnoch Road is hosting an official Canine Watersports Canada Dock Diving competition this weekend, according to owner and head trainer Mary Spurrell.
She says that includes everyone from first-time jumpers to dogs slated to take part in an upcoming Can-Am tournament in September, taking part in some serious, and maybe not-so-serious, competition in multiple disciplines.
Many of the dogs taking part are doing so with the hopes of earning points for their respective title chases, and some are even gunning for a spot at the Championships this August in Brockville.
You’re welcome to bring a chair and something for shade to catch the action on both Saturday, July 22nd, and Sunday, July 23rd, starting in the morning. Pets are also invited to attend as long as they’re friendly and are able to give the competing dogs space.
Refreshments are being sold on site as part of a fundraiser in support of Valley Animal Rescue.
