After three years in Eganville, the Timberwolves will rejoin the rest of the pack.
The Junior A Renfrew Wolves took to social media recently to announce that their Junior B counterparts will return to the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre once the new season gets underway.
The move is possible thanks to the new ice pad going into the MAC as part of the arena’s expansion, which will allow the Timberwolves to practice twice and play one game each week in Renfrew.
In the statement, Junior A Coach Ryan Leonard thanks the town of Eganville for working with the team as the COVID pandemic saw the Timberwolves isolated at the Eganville Community Arena. However, he also notes that the extra distance from Ottawa was just too far for many players to commute, which made it hard to get players to commit to the team.
Leonard adds that he’s excited to have both clubs play in the same building moving forward and that the Timberwolves are in great hands under Jason and Brent Gould.
The expectation for the Goulds is to ice a competitive Junior B team this fall, and they’ll be working with the Junior A staff to make it happen.
