The growing pains for Beachburg’s Nathan Blok and his Futec Motorsports team are almost over.
That’s his opinion, at least, as he will try to shrug off the “new team jitters” after a pair of shaky events to start the Super Production Challenge season.
The team owned and driven by Blok got started by missing qualifying at the Victoria Day Speed Fest in Bowmanville due to fuel and brake issues.
Despite that, Nathan managed to pull back into the top ten, finishing the first race in 8th and the second in 7th before retiring in the third due to transmission trouble.
Two weeks later, under the piping hot conditions of Shannonville Motorsports Park, Blok battled overheating and even more fuel issues to finish the first and third races, 9th and 8th, respectively.
Even though they had to claw their way to top ten finishes in four of the six races so far, Blok says his crew “has been working tirelessly to get things up and running,” as he himself remains excited for the rest of the season.
“We have had anticipated difficulties with the car, but that is to be expected in any new team,” Blok notes. “Every race weekend, every session, every lap we have gotten faster and more efficient. The growing pains are slowly coming to an end, and now we can work at extracting the full potential from the car to build upon the flashes of success we have been showing.”
Blok gets to put that confidence to the test over the July 7th weekend when the SPC heads back to the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville for the Chevrolet Grand Prix.
