It’s good news out of Centennial Lake in Greater Madawaska.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry declared that the forest fire that has been burning along the lake is now “under control.”
The announcement comes after days of fire crews from across the Ottawa Valley and the Ministry working together to contain the blaze which started out on an island this past Sunday, June 4th, before spreading onto the shore.
Greater Madawaska says their evacuation order for the area surrounding the lake will finish as planned at 3:00pm today as crews remain on-site to monitor and clean-up.
The Township is also reminding you that a fire ban is still in effect, which means no burning of any kind and no fireworks.
