The Stars Basketball Camp is welcoming kids back to Renfrew Collegiate Institute starting July 17th.
Vicki Wilson, a two-time All-Canadian at Queen’s University, and her brother Jason, a champion coach with RCI, will be doing two sessions a day from July 17 to the 21st.
Both are long-time coaches and teachers in the Renfrew area who have been hosting the camps since they themselves were in their teens.
Vicki says that they have a long history of developing the local grassroots movement for basketball, adding that it’s nice as teachers to see lots of kids who participate again as they move through the school system and out in the community.
Fun, fair play, and positive attitudes are the foundation of the Stars Basketball Camp, and no experience is needed to take part, according to Vicki. She’s proud to call the camps a safe space for kids to learn, improve, and try a sport that might be brand new to them.
The camp runs each day at the RCI gymnasium from Monday, July 17th, to Friday, July 21st, with two sessions: ages 8 to 10 from 8:30am to 11:30am, and ages 11 to 14 from noon to 3:00pm.
Spaces for the camp are still available but limited, and past turnout suggests that you shouldn’t wait for the July 12 deadline to get in.
You can sign up online through this google form. Registration is $125 per child, with payment accepted by cheque or e-transfer to vickiwilson@gmail.com. You can also email her at that same address for more information.
