People from Renfrew and beyond will be raising money and awareness for brain cancer research later this month.
Pat McGregor, a staple of Renfrew’s charitable efforts, will take the lead when the Heads and Hearts Run, Walk, and Bike leaves Ma-te-Way Park at 9:00am on Saturday, May 27th.
She got involved after talking with the Villamere family, who themselves have become avid fundraisers for Brain Cancer Canada in Renfrew.
May is Brain Cancer Awareness month and, despite a large number of varieties of the disease, brain cancer research only receives 3% of total cancer prevention funding in Canada.
As such, you’re invited to wear your gray and join them on a 2, 5, or 10 kilometer trip along the clearly marked route through town.
It’s a rain or shine event, and you’re welcome to show up no matter your reason for helping the cause. For Pat, the meaning of the day is a personal one.
She also tells us that pledges and donations can be made right up to the day of the event.
Donations can be made right now through Brain Cancer Canada’s website.
