Scammers are paying attention to the local news- maybe you should too.
The Town of Arnprior has been polling residents on their opinions of the current signage bylaw- that survey ends today (ended May 15th), but it was through an online link.
Now, some clever copycat has been calling around saying that the Municipality is doing a survey on police services, and if you press “1” you’ll be linked to it.
Well that’s news to Arnprior, and the Town is letting you know it’s a fake. Arnprior is conducting no such survey, and if you get a call, don’t be fooled- just hang up.
Do not engage with the call or click on any links sent to your phone.
To verify what surveys- or even if the Town is conducting a survey, visit the municipal website, at at https://www.arnprior.ca/
or call 613-623-4231.
Remember: anytime you get an unsolicited phone call, email or text asking you to click a link or open an attachment, don’t do it.
It is also recommended that you report the instance of a scam, fraud or cybercrime to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
