After a hard-fought season, the Renfrew Wolves finally ran out of gas on Friday night.
That’s the word from Head Coach Ryan Leonard, who took to social media to thank the fans after their playoff run was cut short by an 8-0 loss to the Smiths Falls Bears.
The Wolves found themselves overwhelmed by an offence they had been able to shut down completely just two games prior inside the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre, with seven different goal scorers finding success.
Despite the heartbreaking elimination, Leonard points out that there have been a number of positives to the season: the Wolves had back-to-back 30-win seasons to start out as a franchise and have been in the CCHL’s final four in both years of their existence.
The Wolves will now dive into an offseason expected to have its fair share of change. Leonard says that several players are set to graduate from the Junior A ranks for NCAA or U Sports teams, including Nipissing University bound Elvis Slack and Tyson Tomasini, among others yet to be announced.
