The Renfrew and District Food Bank recently got an unexpected boost in stock from a local resident.
Anita Hart tells myFM that a plan to canvas her street for donations to the Food Bank was inspired by her church’s monthly drives.
By October 30th, she was able to fill the back of her car with vital food and sock donations for the food bank ahead of what is always a busy holiday season.
As a frequent volunteer in the Ottawa Valley, Anita says doing the legwork and going door to door along the 32 homes on her street was no problem.
Anita says she’s set to do again sometime early next year, most likely around Easter.
The meantime, she is challenging other neighbourhoods in town to get together and best the benchmark set by Fortington Street.
