An important piece of winter equipment for the town of Renfrew is set to be replaced by in the near future.
Director of Planning and Works Mike Asselin outlined a plan to replace one of the town’s three tandem snow plowing and road salting trucks at Council’s meeting on Tuesday, September 13th.
It took a couple of tries, but Asselin says Renfrew their second attempt to draw bids amid a tough time for plow manufactures attracted two bids. Both suppliers offered a Freightliner model truck to be delivered by 2024.
The successful bid’s total bill came in at just under $341,000 for a 2024 Freightliner 114SD plow and salter tandem truck, which Asselin says the town can cover most of through the town’s rolling stock budget.
The remaining $20,869 for the new plow come from the sale of the town’s 2007 Stirling V01 tandem plow currently in use. Once the new plow arrives, the old one will be auctioned off.
