
A year and a half after being arrested, Joshua Boyce of Bonnechere Valley has received nine months of house arrest and sentenced to three years on probation.
Boyce was originally charged back on February 2nd, 2021, after debris was found in a number of local roads and highways around Renfrew County and the Ottawa Valley.
Court documents obtained by the myFM newsroom shows Boyce was found guilty of mischief, endangering life and arson.
A statement of information shows Boyce endangered the life of motorists on six separate occasions by placing debris, including rims and pylons in live lanes of traffic. Court documents show debris was placed on local roadways including Pembroke Street East near Highway 148 and a number of locations on Highway 17 in Renfrew County.
Boyce and Braden Baumhour were also found guilty of Arson for causing a shed fire in Pembroke.
Boyce has been placed under house arrest for a period of nine months, will have to serve 100-hours of community service and make $5,000 in restitution payments.
Under conditions of the house arrest, Boyce will be able to leave his residence on Saturdays between noon and 4:00pm to acquire necessities of life, for any medical emergencies, going to work or school or for court.
Boyce has to attend mandatory counselling sessions, has been ordered to not contact 12 people, not possess any weapons, consume any alcohol, intoxicating substances or possess any incendiary devices.
In addition to the criminal charges, Boyce will have to complete a letter of reflection and apology that is vetted by his conditional sentence supervisor before it’s sent to the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP.
Five criminal charges against Boyce were withdrawn by the courts.
Justice March oversaw the sentencing hearing on September 15th, 2022.
