
The Pontiac/Shawville edition of the Terry Fox Run is set for September 18th, and can trace it’s roots back to one year after Fox himself embarked on his Marathon of Hope.
Co-Director John Terry says he and Rick Valin put the event on to honour John’s late wife.
While he appreciates every donation that comes in, Terry believes that respecting Terry Fox’s intentions means getting across the starting line at Pontiac High School on September 18th and going as far as you’re able to even if you don’t make the entire 10 kilometers.
Terry adds that you aren’t forced into running in support of the Terry Fox Foundation, as any non-motorized mode of transportation can take part.
Terry, who is a former school teacher, describes the annual outpouring of support for the cause fantastic. He recalls when Terry Fox’s mother, Betty, came to Pontiac High School in 2003 to thank the students for their efforts in commemorating her son.
The 41st annual Pontiac/Shawville Terry Fox run in support of cancer research gets underway at Pontiac High School on September 18th, with registration at 1:00pm and the run at 2:00pm.
