Environment Canada has issued a heat warning across the Ottawa Valley.
Temperatures in the Renfrew, Arnprior, Pembroke, Petawawa, Calabogie, Barry’s Bay, Killaloe and Eganville area are expected to get up near 40 degrees with the humidex on both Saturday and Sunday.
There will also be little relief from the heat at night with minimum temperatures in the low 20’s.
Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Check on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water.
Remember to never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Cooler temperatures are expected on Monday with some showers.

- Barry’s Bay – Killaloe
- Petawawa – Pembroke – Cobden
